Either/Or questions give you two alternatives. Listen carefully for the first choice, the word or, and then the second choice.

Don't decide after the first option. The second choice changes what you need to answer.

Either/Or Questionsでは二つの選択肢が示されます。最初の選択肢、 or、そして二つ目の選択肢まで聞き取りましょう。

最初の選択肢だけで判断しないこと。二つ目まで聞くことが大切です。

The response often selects an option

A natural response may choose the first choice, the second choice, reject both, or give another useful answer.

Listen for the decision — the response does not have to repeat the exact wording.

Don't treat it like a Yes/No question

The beginning may sound like a Yes/No question, but once you hear or, the speaker is asking you to consider alternatives.

Listen past the opening grammar. The choice at the end matters.

Yes/No Questionだと思い込まない

質問の最初はYes/No Questionのように聞こえることがあります。しかし or が聞こえたら、二つの選択肢に注目しましょう。

最初の文法だけで判断せず、質問の最後まで聞きます。

“Should I send the documents by email or courier?”

A · ✓ “Email is fine.”

B · ✕ “Yes, you should.”

Hear the first option. Catch or. Hear the second option. Then listen for the response that fits the choice.

Don't answer too early. Hear the whole choice first.
