The team compared the advertising budget, response rate and average order value for each channel. Email had the highest response rate among existing customers, while social media attracted more first-time visitors. Railway posters produced strong brand recognition in a customer survey, but few shoppers used the campaign code printed on them.
Further market research showed that the target audience contained two different groups. Younger office workers wanted flexible clothing for commuting and remote work. Older managers were more interested in fabric quality and professional appearance. The single campaign message did not speak clearly to either group.
For the final two weeks, Northline tested two advertisements. Social media used the slogan “Work anywhere, look ready” and promoted easy-care jackets to younger customers. Email highlighted premium materials and offered loyal customers a small discount. The company stopped buying additional poster space and moved that budget to the two targeted messages.
The revised advertisements produced fewer total views but more completed orders. The marketing director decided that future launches would use separate audience segments, channel-specific slogans and clear response-rate targets rather than one national message.
Red focus: connect campaign design, audience segments, channel evidence and budget decisions.
