Planning the Move Across the City

A consulting firm planned to relocate from an old building to larger premises across the city. The project team created a floor plan showing workstations, meeting rooms, storage areas and shared workspace. Department managers checked the plan and requested several changes before packing began.

The finance department needed secure storage for documents, while the sales team wanted to sit near the main meeting rooms. The relocation coordinator adjusted the floor plan and assigned a label to every desk, chair and equipment box. Staff were told to pack personal items but leave computers for the moving company and technical team.

Because the new access-card system would not be ready on the first morning, employees received temporary passes. The company also allowed remote work for one day to reduce disruption. After the move, managers inspected each workspace and reported missing equipment. Most problems were corrected before the office officially reopened to clients.
